SYNOPSIS
Sarah wants what we all want from a lover—to be seen and heard. When she realizes the person who sees and hears her most is the FBI agent assigned to read her texts, she asks Big Brother out. Sparks fly. Sarah and Agent Morris found love in the surveillance state. But when Sarah discovers she’s not the only civilian in Agent Morris’ case file, their connection wavers. A play for the brain rot generation about what it means to take control of being watched.

A BIT ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
When did you start writing plays? If you had a moment where you realized you wanted to write, what was it?
How did you come to write your OOB play? Was there a particular inspiration behind its creation? How has it developed?
I am sure that the only person who thinks about Edward Snowden more than me is Edward Snowden. He has been on my mind ever since he acted as a whistleblower by leaking highly classified information from the NSA in 2013. In my opinion, it can feel violating but also oddly comforting to know that someone is watching you. I started thinking about who could be monitoring my messages, what they might find out about me, and what I would say to these watchers if given the chance. I tried to imagine how that conversation might go through this play.
What are five words that describe who you are as a playwright?
Chaotic, verbose, quirky, funny, dark.
What/who are some of the major influences on your writing?
Kurt Vonnegut, Annie Baker, Miranda July, Sibyl Kempson, and the first six seasons of Gilmore Girls!
What’s one fact someone would never guess about you?
I was the place kicker on my high school football team.
What are some of your favorite plays?
Any new projects you’re working on or shameless plugs?
This fall, my work will be featured as part of Bring A Weasel and a Pint of Your Own Blood Festival, the annual experimental theater extravaganza from the graduating class of MFA playwrights at Brooklyn College. The theme for this year’s festival is sci-fi. It’s going to be stellar!
