Day 1 Results

One day down, five more days to go, and I do not envy our judges one bit!

The judges for last night’s performances were New Dramatists Artistic Director Emily Morse, notable supporter of grantmaking at The New York Community Trust Salem Tsegaye, and acclaimed playwright Vichet Chum. They watched seven short plays last night and were tasked with only choosing a few to advance to the Saturday finals.

The first session fabulously opened with Emily J. Daly’s  The Garden of Eden on a Beautiful Day, Michael Pisaturo’s Where the Fireworks Come From, and Andrew R. Heinze‘s The Bar Mitzvah of Jesus Goldfarb. For the second session we watched four more delightful plays: Bonnie Antosh’s Clux Deluxe, Jeff Ronan’s Bunkmates, Johnny G. Lloyd’s Round, and Jacqueline Birther’s Webster’s Bitch

After considerable thought and consideration, the plays chosen to perform on Saturday were The Bar Mitzvah of Jesus GoldfarbClux Delux, and Bunkmates

Congratulations! If you want to see these plays again, then please keep a look out for Saturday’s schedule on our tickets page.  More Saturday finalists will be announced throughout the week, so please stay tuned for more updates. And, please check out our full schedule for our other Final 30 performances.

Thank you Emily Morse, Salem Tsegaye, and Vichet Chum for joining us last night. Making those choices couldn’t have been easy.

Also, thank you to last night’s playwrights! It’s an honor to have you as part of our OOB family, and we look forward to talking to you more throughout the week. All playwrights are invited to watch all the sessions this week and to join us for drinks at sideBAR afterwords.
